The first song in the Someday in Paris OST
Heh! No, I’m not already working on the script for the Someday in Paris movie (although….a girl can dream)!
When I say OST for Someday in Paris, I’m talking about the songs I listened to on repeat while writing the novel. And ‘on repeat’…is not an exaggeration:)
Normally, I can’t write if there are people around or there’s music playing, etc. I am particular that way. I also can’t write indoors, but that’s a different story, and an interesting problem to have when winter comes:)
To go back to the music…when working on the first draft, I accidentally discovered something fascinating. Because I was writing outside in a ‘shared’ yard, I had to wear headphones and listen to something (something other than neighbors chatting). I had a random playlist with hundreds of songs but soon found myself playing certain songs on repeat because they ‘inspired’ that particular part of the story.
And I realized that once you play the same music over and over and over again, it turns into something else, like magic. The songs start to have a different meaning and soon you feel they go hand in hand with the story. So much so, that every time you hear one of ‘your songs’ on the radio, you are taken back to the book, and that world, the characters, the places, the smells, the sounds.
I wanted to share with you today the first song on the Someday in Paris ‘unofficial soundtrack’;)
It’s called ‘Little French Song’ and I hope you like it. And maybe next time when you hear it, you’ll think of Someday in Paris, just like I do.
Until next time!
Keep Believing in Magic,
