Thankful! #oscarthanks
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I found myself thinking about all the people and things I am truly thankful for. There are obvious things I am beyond thankful for like my health and the health of my loved ones, our family and friends, our ‘village’ in the Delta and the welcoming people who ‘adopted’ us from day one and who we are now happy to call friends…
Outside of those ‘implied’ thanks, the temptation is big to do the ‘Oscar speech’:
I want to thank my wonderful family: my incredibly patient and loving husband who is my biggest supporter, my beautiful, mini-me daughter, and my parents. I also want to thank my brilliant agent, Hannah Sheppard, and my talented editor, Rhea Kurien, two people who love Someday in Paris just as much as I do—and what a great feeling this is— and who I trust to bring my book baby into the world in the best possible way. I am fortunate to have both of them in my corner! I also want to thank the writing community, writers who have cheered me on and lifted me up in the last few years, my Beta readers who were—after my husband– the first ones to read Someday in Paris and whose love for the book made me believe in it even more. Their comments and reactions to it when it was just a draft sitting on my computer, helped me get to where I am now…a few short months from publishing Someday in Paris and sharing it with the world.
Oh, look, I did pull an ‘Oscar’. I’m going to call it #oscarthanks. Haha.
What are you thankful for? Whether in your writing life or just in general. If I see #oscarthanks on Twitter or Instagram, I’ll know it’s you;) Don’t forget to tag me so I see your lovely comments.
Until next time!
Keep Believing in Magic,
Olivia Lara
