FAQ: What got me into writing?
I was lucky to be born into a family of bookworms. My mother read every single night, no matter how tired she was. My father read three-four books at a time, across genres, and also wrote SciFi stories in his spare time. My grandfather was an editor for a publishing house and oftentimes brought manuscripts home and read them out loud while editing them. Both my parents and grandparents had dedicated rooms for books, mini-libraries if you will; although my father's was not mini at all if I think about it.
Thing is, I have been surrounded by books all my life and writing just came naturally to me. I wrote my first short story before I knew how to spell properly and I still have it in a drawer somewhere. It’s a reminder that if you really want something…one day it will happen. As long as you don’t give up and you believe in yourself and your dream!
I am now six months away from having my first novel published, and if I had told seven-year-old Olivia that, she would’ve completely freaked out:) It wasn’t easy getting here and definitely not a perfectly straight line, but that’s another story for another day.
If you’re a writer, what started you off on this path? And when?
Until next time!
Keep Believing in Magic,
